Juniper Systems launches Mesa 3 Rugged Tablet

Juniper Systems has released the Mesa 3 Rugged Table running Android, following the release of the Mesa 3 Rugged Tablet running Windows 10 earlier in January 2020.

The new Mesa 3 Rugged Tablet by Juniper Systems, powered by Windows 10, offers a familiar interface and the ability to run a large selection of new applications, data collection software, office suites, and older legacy software. The tablet can be docked to an M2/3 Dock and used with a keyboard, mouse, and monitor while in the office.

The tablet has a quad-core Intel Pentium processor to perform CPU intensive tasks in the office and in the field, as well as Intel HD Graphics. It run features 8 GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 128 GB of flash storage (with a 256 GB upgrade option), an a MicroSDXC card slot for expanded storage. The included 43.2 Watthour (Whr) removable battery offers eight to ten hours of battery life, with an optional 21.6 Whr internal battery to allow hot-swappability. The 7 inch display has a 1280×800 resolution and is sunlight viewable.

With a wide range of connection protocols, the Mesa 3 also includes long-range Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with bands for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, and 4G LTE with major wireless carriers. It also has a USB 3.0 port, 12 VDC power input jack, and 3.5 mm audio jack, as well as a grid of pins for connection to the M2/3 Dock and M2/3 Attachable Keyboard. The M2/3 Dock has additional USB ports, ethernet port, and HMDI for connecting to a display.

The Mesa 3 is rated IP68, making it waterproof and dustproof. It is also designed to stand up to MIL-STD-810G test procedures. The Mesa 3 has the same ergonomic design and functionality as the Mesa 2. The Mesa 2 is still available for organisations and individuals whose computing tasks don’t require the processing power the Mesa 3 provides.

Built to run demanding applications in the field, the tablet’s system on a chip (SoC) has an octa-core processor from Qualcomm with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of flash storage, as well as expandable storage with the device’s MicroSDXC card slot. The included 43.2 Watthour (Whr) removable battery offers ten to twelve hours of battery life, with hot-swap battery capabilities enabled by an optional internal 21.6 Whr battery. The device’s 7 inch, 1280×800 resolution screen is sunlight viewability even in bright conditions. The screen is also polarised for optimal viewing with or without polarised sunglasses.
