Leica Geosystems partners with Pointfuse and Planon to drive automation in built environment management

Information from Leica Geosystems

Pointfuse and Leica Geosystems have announced a global cooperation and development agreement that streamlines the use of reality capture in digital construction, space management and visualisation workflows. This announcement follows two days after Leica Geosystems partnered with Planon to integrate the company’s software for real estate, space, and asset management into its own reality capture, cloud-based visualisation and collaboration solutions to accelerate digital transformation in the building industry.

To launch the cooperation, Pointfuse released a new version of its software that provides Leica Geosystems users with a Scan-2-BIM workflow within the Leica Jetstream ecosystem. The software is configured with profiles for Leica Geosystems 3D laser scanners, including the Leica Geosystems LGS file format. As a single file, the LGS file format simplifies file sharing and enables the Pointfuse software to extract data contained in it for the classification of building information. This makes it a companion solution to the Leica BLK2GO handheld imaging laser scanner for space and facilities management professionals.

Earlier, Planon and Leica Geosystems have released a solution to create digital twins for existing buildings without significant investment, using Leica’s geospatial reality capture and cloud-based collaboration solutions with Planon’s real estate and facilities management business software. The integration reduces the need for property managers to visit sites and allows for planned interventions.
