Radiant Earth Foundation leadership transition
Information from Radiant Earth Foundation
Anne Hale Miglarese, the founder and CEO of Radiant Earth Foundation, will exit the organisation as a full-time employee and remain as a member of the board of directors. Hamed Alemohammad, Radiant Earth’s chief data scientist, will assume the duties of executive director from 1 September 2020, and join the board of directors. Board member Jerry Johnston will become the chairman of the board of directors.
The organisation was formed in July of 2016 to increase access and usability of remotely sensed imagery with a focus on supporting the global development community. It has already developed data access standards such as the Spatio Temporal Asset Catalog (STAC), generated and published benchmark training datasets, organised and sponsored data challenges, and developed guidelines for high quality ground reference data collection.
“We have been successful in establishing a geospatial machine learning commons and fostering a community of practice to advance innovations and address real-world problems,” said Alemohammad. “We will continue to expand our tools and benchmarks to further enable local solutions for environmental and development challenges using Earth observations.”
