South African National Space Agency opens postgraduate bursary applications for 2022

The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) is offering post graduate degree bursaries to contribute to the national target for qualified post-graduates in science and engineering. Successful applicants will receive bursaries of R90 000 (one year) for Honours programmes, R100 000 per year for two years for Masters programmes, and R130 000 per year for three years for PhD degrees.
SANSA offers the bursaries for Hons, MSc and PhD degrees in Earth observation, including for remote sensing, geospatial programming, Earth system science with remote sensing, Earth observations in ecosystems accounting and applications of remote sensing in environmental management including oceans and marine, agriculture and rangelands, water resource management, mineral resource and spatial planning. The agency is also looking for candidates in other fields including Computer Science, information systems, software and systems engineering and data science.
The main criteria used in the selection of successful applicants are financial need, academic potential and career-oriented study programmes. Interested participants can find more info on the agency’s research portal https://research.sansa.org.za.
