Global wind data now in daily weather forecasts

ESA’s Aeolus satellite is the first to provide profiles of Earth’s wind in cloud-free air globally, carries the first instrument of its kind, and uses a novel approach to measuring the wind from space. The data has already been incorporated into the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). This data makes a big difference, particularly in the southern hemisphere.
