This Geo-Information Society of South Africa’s (GISSA) Gauteng branch meeting will be held under the theme “Disruptive GIS technology/GIS applications”. It will take place virtually on Microsoft Teams, with the possibility of a physical meeting within the constraints of local regulations. The meeting is accredited for 0.5 CPD points.
Newly-elected GISSA national chairperson, Janusha Singh, will deliver the keynote address. Mfanafuthi Gama from the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development will present on the National Spatial Planning Data Repository to support data-driven spatial planning in municipalities. Kartoza’s Gavin Fleming will be presenting on working with mesh and point cloud data in free open source software GIS. There are also two scheduled presentations by Statistics South Africa, and three commercial presentations from Intergraph Systems, Esri South Africa and SpeedFox.
