The Institute of Mine Surveyors of Southern Africa (IMSSA) invites members and affiliated guests to join the webinar in which Prof Fred Cawood and Dr Iqra Atif will be discussing the design and development of smart integrated mining systems. The event is awarded with a 0.25 CPD point.
Strategic mining requires business development and risk management systems that go beyond compliance. Smart mining systems are not possible without doing geospatial monitoring and mapping, which can be done at a mine level (e.g., health and safety monitoring), regional level (e.g., community evidence-based mapping), national level (e.g., cadastre management) or a global level (e.g., climate change impact modelling). To do this, the traditional professions require specific, new skills to complement the fundamental knowledge that is typically part of the general system of qualifications. Skills development for twenty-first century mining must take the process to move from data to intelligence into account, which is the topic of this webinar.
