ViewPostGIS is a spatial database which allows users, web map servers and other applications to all run off the same database. PostGIS and PostgreSQL provide a powerful, enterprise geospatial relational database management system. Using the software one can insert geometries into a database and perform spatial queries and analysis on that data. The software provides the cornerstone for an enterprise platform from which to carry out desktop GIS, in-database analysis and data processing, web mapping and the provision of OGC compliant web services.
This course, presented by Kartoza, will teach you how to import and export data into PostGIS, manipulate that data using SQL queries, and visualise the resulting datasets with QGIS. It will also explore how PostGIS can be used in rolling out an integrated FOSS-based GIS enterprise solution, as well as how it can work in a mixed environment.
The content in this course is technical in nature, but does not require any prior database knowledge.
