This webinar replaces two sessions on land consolidation initially planned for the FIG Working Week 2020 in Amsterdam during May 2020, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 situation.
The webinar supports the application and implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security and achieving SDG targets such as 1.4, 2.3 and 5.a. It will promote good land consolidation practices and the practical application of the FAO Legal Guide with the examples from a range of European countries. Land consolidation is a land management instrument, which has traditionally been used for agricultural development to reduce land fragmentation and increasing holding and farm sizes. It is also widespread in countries in Asia and Africa.
