We are Novum Intel (, an online business-to-business publication and news service for location intelligence professionals in Africa. We collect visitor and user data to optimise our platform, provide high quality services and user experiences, for platform security, and to comply with any legal obligations, such as calculating taxes. Some of this data is personal, but most of it is not.

We are headquartered in South Africa, but follow international data security and privacy standards to protect ourselves, our readers and our customers. We carefully select our service provider and partners to ensure GDPR compliance and ISO 27000 information security across our systems.

Your data belongs to you. You can request to edit or delete/erase the personal data we hold about you at any time, either in the user interface or by contacting us. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Personal data we collect

We collect IP address and browser type by default, as well as data that you willing share with us when you sign up and use our services, including your name and surname, billing address, email address, phone number, as well as optional account information like username and password. We do NOT collect or store credit card/payment details.

We collect:

Contact forms: We use contact forms to allow users to subscribe to our newsletters, to capture purchase information, and for events and business listings. This typically requires your name, surname, email and telephone number. The Google Maps API is used to map events and company addresses.

Membership data: If you create an account on Novum Intel, your name, username and email address are stored.

Payments: We accept payments through PayPal, which processes your information in accordance to the PayPal Privacy Policy. We collect and store your order information, but not your payment details.

Cookies: We use cookies to suggest related articles, for user convenience, and for social sharing functions. You can set your browser to deny cookies (website might not function as intended) or discard cookies by clearing your browser cache.

Analytics: We gather visitor and user analytical data, as mentioned to measure our platform’s performance and assess the effectiveness of advertising on our site.

Embedded content: Embedded content such as YouTube videos, Soundcloud audio and social media (LinkedIn, Twitter) behaves in the same way as when you visit these websites, and are subject to the privacy policy of these services.

Media: If you upload images to our platform or service, we recommend you avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included, as it could expose personal information such as location data.

Data access, processing and storage

Members of our team, as well as our platform administrators, have access to the information you provide us. Our team members have access to this information to help fulfil orders, process refunds and support you.

We do employ automated processing such as marketing automation to help target our sales efforts and enhance our audience engagement, and nothing more.

Data that does not require storing is not stored, and stored data is kept only as long as operationally and legally required. Our data is stored in secure, encrypted format, by us and our service providers.

Data sharing and third parties

We never sell your personal data – ever! Nor do we receive personal data from third parties.

We share visitor and user data with our service providers only to the extent necessary to fulfil our services, and always in compliance GDPR and security standards. We share anonymous, aggregated, non-personal, non-personal-identifiable analytics with our advertisers to ensure relevant advertising on our platforms.

We use advance security and monitoring tools to protect our systems and data. In the case of confirmed data breach, or in the case of reasonable concern, we commit to letting our users know within 24 hours.
